In a thrilling game at Haynes Pavilion, the Montana State University Bobcats emerged victorious over the University of Wyoming Pokes, with a final score of 4-1. Despite being outshot by the Pokes 55-35, the Bobcats displayed a strong defensive performance that proved to be the difference.
The Pokes started the game aggressively, firing shot after shot at Bobcats’ goalie Reese Mcconnell. However, Mcconnell was up to the task, making an impressive 54 saves out of 55 shots. On the other end, Pokes’ goalie Pudgie Sabinash managed 31 saves out of 35 shots.
The Pokes’ powerplay was unable to make an impact, failing to score in all three opportunities. The Bobcats also struggled with their powerplay, going 0 for 4. Despite the lack of powerplay goals, the Bobcats were able to capitalize on their opportunities, with Nicola Roberts (#26) scoring a crucial goal.
The Pokes’ only goal came from Zoey Brown (#2), but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Bobcats’ lead.
The Bobcats will look to continue their winning momentum in their next game at home against the University of Utah on Friday, February 20, at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink. The Bobcats’ fans will be hoping for another strong performance from their team.
