In a thrilling display of ice hockey, the Montana State University Bobcats steamrolled the University of Wyoming Pokes with a staggering 9-3 final score on Sunday, February 6th. The Bobcats showcased their offensive prowess at Haynes Pavilion, with the home crowd cheering them on.
The Bobcats outshot the Pokes with an impressive 58 shots compared to the Pokes’ 32. Despite the Pokes’ efforts to turn the tide with five powerplays, they failed to convert any into goals. The Bobcats, although they had fewer powerplays (three), also didn’t manage to capitalize on them.
The Pokes’ goalie, Alayna Smith, faced a barrage of shots, saving 49 out of the 58. On the other end, the Bobcats’ Emma Carlson had a slightly quieter night, saving 29 out of 32 shots.
Lena Roubinek of the Pokes managed to score two goals, but that was not enough to tip the balance in their favor. Meanwhile, Aziana Schacht of the Bobcats was the star of the night, providing four assists that contributed significantly to the Bobcats’ victory.
The Bobcats will face the Pokes again at home on Saturday, February 7th at Haynes Pavilion. After this dominant performance, the Bobcats will be looking to repeat their success, while the Pokes will undoubtedly be seeking redemption.
