The Montana State University Bobcats showed their prowess on the ice last night with a decisive 9-3 victory over the University of Wyoming Pokes at Haynes Pavilion. The Bobcats dominated the game from start to finish, outshooting the Pokes with a total of 58 shots compared to the Pokes’ 32.
Despite having more powerplay opportunities, the Pokes failed to capitalize, finishing the game with a powerplay record of 0/5. The Bobcats didn’t fare much better in this aspect, going 0/3 on their powerplays. However, the Bobcats’ offensive strength was more than enough to secure the win.
The Pokes’ goalie, Alayna Smith, put up a valiant effort, saving 49 of the 58 shots she faced. On the other side of the rink, the Bobcats’ Emma Carlson had a slightly easier night, saving 29 of the 32 shots she faced.
The Pokes’ #40, Lena Roubinek, managed to put two goals on the board, but it was not enough to overcome the Bobcats’ offensive onslaught. The star of the night was undoubtedly the Bobcats’ #19, Aziana Schacht, who racked up an impressive four assists.
The Bobcats will face off against the Pokes again in their next game, taking place at home in Haynes Pavilion on Saturday, February 7th. The Bobcats will undoubtedly be looking to replicate their dominant performance and secure another victory.
