In a thrilling game at Haynes Pavilion, the Montana State University Bobcats secured a convincing 4-1 victory over the University of Wyoming Pokes. Despite being outshot 55-35, the Bobcats showcased their defensive prowess, with goalie Reese McConnell putting on a stellar performance.
The Pokes came out firing, but McConnell was up to the task, saving 54 of the 55 shots he faced. His counterpart, Pudgie Sabinash of the Pokes, faced 35 shots and made 31 saves, but could not stop the Bobcats from finding the back of the net four times.
Neither team was able to capitalize on their powerplay opportunities, with the Pokes going 0/3 and the Bobcats 0/4. This didn’t halt the Bobcats’ momentum, however, as they maintained a strong offensive presence throughout the game.
Bobcats’ #26 Nicola Roberts scored one of the four goals, contributing to the team’s victory. On the Pokes’ side, #2 Zoey Brown managed to score the only goal for her team.
With this win, the Bobcats have set a positive tone for their upcoming home game against the University of Utah. The match will take place on Friday, February 20th at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink. The Bobcats will be looking to continue their winning ways and secure another victory.
