The Montana State University Bobcats showed their mettle last night, recording a 4-1 win over the University of Wyoming Pokes at the Haynes Pavilion. Despite the Pokes taking more shots at the goal, it was the Bobcats who demonstrated superior precision and strategy.
The Pokes peppered the Bobcats’ net with a total of 55 shots, while the Bobcats responded with 35. However, the scoreline did not reflect the shot count, as the Bobcats converted their chances more effectively. Neither team was able to capitalize on their powerplays, with the Pokes going 0/3 and the Bobcats 0/4.
In the goalie matchup, Pokes’ Pudgie Sabinash faced a barrage of 35 shots, managing to save 31. On the other hand, Bobcats’ Reese McConnell was the star of the show, saving 54 out of the 55 shots he faced.
The scorers for the night were Pokes’ #2 Zoey Brown and Bobcats’ #26 Nicola Roberts, both netting a goal each.
The Bobcats will look to carry this momentum into their next game at home against the University of Utah on Friday, February 20, at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink. Stay tuned for more exciting Bobcats hockey action!
