The Montana State University Bobcats showcased their prowess on the ice last night, clinching a 4-1 victory over the University of Wyoming Pokes. Despite being outshot by the Pokes 55 to 35, the Bobcats demonstrated superior defensive skills and capitalized on their opportunities to secure the win.
The Pokes came out strong, peppering Bobcats’ goalie, Reese McConnell, with 55 shots. However, McConnell stood tall, making an impressive 54 saves and allowing only a single goal by Pokes’ #2, Zoey Brown. On the other end, Pokes’ goalie Pudgie Sabinash faced 35 shots, managing to save 31 but falling short of holding back the Bobcats’ onslaught.
Despite both teams having multiple powerplay opportunities, neither managed to convert. The Pokes were 0/3 and the Bobcats 0/4. This speaks to the strong penalty killing units on both sides.
Bobcats’ #26, Nicola Roberts, was among the goal scorers, contributing to the team’s impressive tally. The Bobcats’ victory was a collective effort, with the team showing cohesion and determination throughout the game.
The Bobcats will carry this momentum into their next game against the University of Utah. The match is scheduled for Friday, February 20, at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink. The Bobcats will be looking to build on this victory and continue their winning streak.
