In a thrilling face-off at the Haynes Pavilion, the Montana State University Bobcats emerged victorious against the University of Wyoming Pokes with a final score of 4-1. Despite the Pokes dominating the shot count with 55 shots compared to the Bobcats’ 35, the Bobcats were able to capitalize on their chances and secure a convincing win.
The Bobcats’ goalie, Reese McConnell, was the star of the show, making an incredible 54 saves from the Pokes’ 55 shots. On the other hand, Pokes’ goalie Pudgie Sabinash, despite facing fewer shots, was only able to make 31 saves from the Bobcats’ 35 shots.
Both teams struggled to make an impact on the powerplay, with the Pokes going 0/3 and the Bobcats slightly worse at 0/4. This did not deter the Bobcats, though, as they continued to apply pressure and convert their opportunities.
The goal scorers for the evening were Pokes’ #2 Zoey Brown and Bobcats’ #26 Nicola Roberts, both contributing to their team’s score.
The Bobcats will look to carry this momentum into their next game, a home clash against the University of Utah on Friday, February 20 at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink. It promises to be another exciting match-up as the Bobcats look to continue their winning streak.
