The Montana State University Bobcats put on a masterclass in hockey last night, shutting out the University of Washington Huskies with a resounding 12-0 victory at the Kraken Community Iceplex.
The Bobcats’ offense was on fire, launching an impressive 41 shots on goal compared to the Huskies’ 11. The Huskies’ defense and goaltender Yasmine Mohamed were under siege throughout the game, with Mohamed managing to save 29 of the onslaught of shots.
Bobcats’ goalie Reese McConnell had a quieter night, facing only 11 shots and maintaining a clean sheet with 11 saves. The Bobcats’ powerplay unit also had a successful night, converting 1 out of 5 opportunities, while the Huskies’ powerplay unit failed to capitalize on their 2 chances.
The star of the night was undoubtedly Bobcats’ #4 Maeve Kelleher, who lit the lamp three times for a hat trick. On the other side, Huskies’ #55 Jocelynn Delamerced had a rough night, spending a total of 4 minutes in the penalty box.
The Bobcats will look to carry this momentum into their next game, an away match against the University of Denver on Friday, November 14 at the Family Sports Center. With this kind of performance, the Bobcats are certainly a team to watch this season.
