In an intense showdown last night, the Montana State University Bobcats hockey team suffered a 5-2 loss against the University of Utah Utes. The game, which took place at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink, saw the Utes dominate with a total of 38 shots compared to the Bobcats’ 31.
Despite the defeat, the Bobcats put up a valiant fight. Utes goalie, Miranda De Antunano, had to make 29 saves out of 31 shots, indicating the offensive pressure the Bobcats were able to exert. However, the Bobcats’ goalie, Reese McConnell, faced an even tougher night with 33 saves out of 38 shots.
One of the highlights for the Bobcats was #22 Rylan Lorentz, who scored one of the two goals for the team. On the other side, Utes #12 Morgan Lavalley stood out with two goals, contributing significantly to their victory.
The Bobcats had two powerplay opportunities but were unable to capitalize on them. The Utes, however, did not have any powerplay chances during the game.
The Bobcats will look to bounce back in their next game, which is a home game against Grand Canyon University on Saturday, February 21 at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink. The team will undoubtedly use this loss as motivation to come out stronger and more determined in their upcoming match.
