The Montana State University Bobcats faced off against the University of Utah Utes in a high-intensity game at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink. Despite a hard-fought battle, the Bobcats fell to the Utes with a final score of 5-2.
The Utes came out strong, firing off 38 shots against the Bobcats’ 31. Utes’ goalie, Miranda De Antunano, proved to be a formidable opponent, saving 29 of the 31 shots taken by the Bobcats. On the other end of the ice, Bobcats’ goalie, Reese McConnell, made 33 saves out of 38 shots.
In a game without any powerplay opportunities for the Utes and two unsuccessful ones for the Bobcats, the game was a testament to both teams’ defensive strengths. Unfortunately, the Bobcats were unable to capitalize on their powerplays, leaving the scoreline in favor of the Utes.
Utes’ #12, Morgan Lavalley, was a standout player of the match, scoring two goals. For the Bobcats, #22 Rylan Lorentz managed to find the back of the net, providing one of the two goals for his team.
The Bobcats look forward to their next game, a home match against Grand Canyon University on Saturday, February 21. The team will be eager to bounce back from this loss and showcase their skills at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink.
