The Montana State University Bobcats emerged victorious in a thrilling encounter against the University of Colorado Buffaloes on Sunday, Oct 18th at the Haynes Pavilion. The game ended with a scoreline of 3-1 in favor of the Bobcats.
Despite the Buffaloes taking more shots at the goal (32) compared to the Bobcats (26), the latter’s superior defensive strategy and the outstanding performance by their goalie, Reese McConnell, proved to be the difference. McConnell saved an impressive 31 out of 32 shots, allowing only one goal from the Buffaloes’ #6, Anna Masiello.
The Bobcats’ offense was led by #26 Nicola Roberts who scored two crucial goals, tipping the balance in their favor. Both teams had four powerplay opportunities, but neither could capitalize on them.
In the goalkeeping department, the Buffaloes’ Zoe Watson managed to save 23 out of 26 shots. Despite her commendable performance, it was not enough to secure a win for her team.
The Bobcats will now turn their attention to their next game, an away fixture against the University of Washington on Friday, Oct 24 at the Kraken Community Iceplex in Washington. The team will be hoping to maintain their winning momentum and secure another victory.
