The Montana State University Bobcats faced off against the University of Utah Utes at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink on February 20, 2026. The final score was Utes 5, Bobcats 2, marking a challenging game for our Bobcats.
The Utes came out strong, taking 38 shots on goal, while the Bobcats held their own with 31 shots. Despite the Bobcats’ strong defensive efforts, Utes’ goalie Miranda De Antunano managed to make an impressive 29 saves out of 31 shots, while Bobcats’ goalie Reese McConnell saved 33 out of 38 shots.
Unfortunately, the Bobcats’ powerplay was 0/2, while the Utes didn’t have any powerplay opportunities. This proved to be a pivotal part of the game, as the Bobcats were unable to capitalize on their powerplay chances.
Utes’ player #12, Morgan Lavalley, was a standout in the game, netting two goals. On the Bobcats’ side, #22 Rylan Lorentz managed to score a goal, adding to his impressive season stats.
Looking ahead, the Bobcats will be back on home ice against Grand Canyon University on Saturday, February 21, at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink. Despite the tough loss, our Bobcats are ready to regroup and come back stronger in the next game. We hope to see you there, cheering them on!
