In a thrilling and competitive game at the Haynes Pavilion, the Montana State University Bobcats claimed a decisive 4-1 victory over the University of Wyoming Pokes. Despite being outshot 55 to 35 by the Pokes, the Bobcats demonstrated exceptional defensive skills and goalkeeping to secure the win.
The Pokes, despite their aggressive offensive play and numerous shots on goal, were unable to capitalize on their opportunities. Their powerplay went 0 for 3, leaving them struggling to convert their chances into goals. Pokes’ goalie, Pudgie Sabinash, faced 35 shots and made 31 saves.
On the other side of the rink, the Bobcats made the most of their 35 shots on goal. Their powerplay mirrored the Pokes at 0 for 4, but they were able to find the net more frequently. Bobcats’ goalie, Reese McConnell, put up an outstanding performance, saving 54 out of 55 shots, a key factor in their victory.
Pokes’ #2, Zoey Brown, managed to score a single goal, but it wasn’t enough to turn the tide. Bobcats’ #26, Nicola Roberts, also contributed with a goal, helping to cement the Bobcats’ lead.
Looking ahead, the Bobcats will be hosting the University of Utah in their next game on Friday, February 20th, at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink. After their impressive performance against the Pokes, the Bobcats will be entering this game with confidence and high spirits.
