The Montana State University Bobcats put on a stellar performance last night at Haynes Pavilion, delivering a crushing 4-1 defeat to the University of Wyoming Pokes. Despite the Pokes firing off a whopping 55 shots, it was the Bobcats’ precision and teamwork that stole the show.
The Bobcats, with 35 shots, managed to score four times, demonstrating their offensive prowess. The Pokes, despite their relentless attempts, could only manage one goal. The powerplay opportunities for both teams were fruitless, with the Pokes going 0/3 and the Bobcats 0/4.
The goaltenders were the unsung heroes of the night. Pudgie Sabinash of the Pokes, despite letting in four goals, made an impressive 31 saves on 35 shots. On the other hand, Reese McConnell of the Bobcats was simply outstanding, stopping 54 out of 55 shots.
On the scoring front, Bobcats’ #26 Nicola Roberts and Pokes’ #2 Zoey Brown each netted a goal. The remaining three goals for the Bobcats were a testament to their balanced attack and team play.
Looking ahead, the Bobcats will be hosting the University of Utah at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink on Friday, February 20th.
