The Montana State University Bobcats made a powerful statement last night, defeating the University of Wyoming Pokes 4-1 at Haynes Pavilion. Despite the Pokes dominating the shot count with 55 attempts to the Bobcats’ 35, the Bobcats’ defense and goaltending proved to be the difference in the game.

The Bobcats’ goalie, Reese McConnell, put on a stellar performance, saving 54 of the 55 shots he faced. The Pokes’ goalie, Pudgie Sabinash, despite a valiant effort, could only manage to save 31 of the 35 shots fired his way.

Powerplay opportunities were scarce and neither team could capitalize. The Pokes went 0 for 3, while the Bobcats had one more opportunity but also failed to convert, going 0 for 4.

The Bobcats’ victory was not without its stars. Nicola Roberts, wearing the #26 jersey, scored one of the four goals for the Bobcats. On the Pokes’ side, Zoey Brown, #2, managed to find the back of the net for their only goal of the game.

The Bobcats will look to carry this momentum into their next game, a home match against the University of Utah on Friday, February 20 at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink. The Bobcats’ fans will be hoping for another thrilling performance from their team.
