The Montana State University Bobcats dominated the ice last night, securing a decisive 4-1 victory over the University of Wyoming Pokes. Despite being outshot 55-35, the Bobcats’ solid defense and stellar goaltending proved to be the difference.
The Pokes came out firing, but Bobcats’ goalie, Reese McConnell, put up an impressive performance, saving 54 out of 55 shots. On the other end, the Pokes’ goalie, Pudgie Sabinash, struggled to keep up, saving only 31 out of 35 shots.
Neither team found success on the powerplay, with the Pokes going 0 for 3 and the Bobcats going 0 for 4. However, the Bobcats’ even-strength play was more than enough to secure the win.
The Bobcats’ #26 Nicola Roberts and Pokes’ #2 Zoey Brown each netted a goal. But it was the Bobcats who had the last laugh, scoring three additional goals to seal the victory.
The Bobcats will look to continue their winning ways in their next game at home against the University of Utah on Friday, February 20th at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink. As always, we’ll bring you the latest updates and post-game analysis. Go Bobcats!
