The Montana State University Bobcats secured a resounding victory against the University of Wyoming Pokes last night at the Haynes Pavilion. The Bobcats dominated the ice with a final score of 4-1, despite the Pokes making more shots on goal.
The Pokes had a total of 55 shots, but the Bobcats’ impenetrable defense and the exceptional performance of goalie Reese McConnell, who saved 54 out of 55 shots, kept the Pokes at bay. The Bobcats, on the other hand, made 35 shots, four of which found their mark.
Both teams struggled with power plays, with the Pokes going 0 for 3 and the Bobcats 0 for 4. Nevertheless, the Bobcats’ stronger offensive game proved decisive.
The Pokes’ sole goal came from #2 Zoey Brown, while the Bobcats’ #26 Nicola Roberts also added a goal to the Bobcats’ tally.
Pudgie Sabinash, the Pokes’ goalie, faced 35 shots and managed to save 31. Despite his efforts, the Bobcats’ offensive prowess was too strong to overcome.
The Bobcats are now gearing up for their next game, a home match against the University of Utah on Friday, Feb 20, at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink. The team and fans are looking forward to another thrilling match and hoping for another Bobcat victory.
