The Montana State University Bobcats showed their prowess on the ice last night as they took down the University of Wyoming Pokes with a convincing 4-1 victory at the Haynes Pavilion.
Despite being outshot 55 to 35, the Bobcats managed to make their opportunities count. The Pokes, on the other hand, struggled to find the back of the net, with their only goal coming from #2 Zoey Brown.
The Bobcats’ netminder, Reese McConnell, was the star of the game, making an impressive 54 saves on 55 shots. His counterpart, Pudgie Sabinash of the Pokes, had a tougher night, saving 31 out of 35 shots.
The powerplay units for both teams failed to convert, with the Pokes going 0 for 3 and the Bobcats 0 for 4. Despite these missed opportunities, the Bobcats were able to capitalize in even-strength situations, with #26 Nicola Roberts contributing a goal to the winning effort.
The Bobcats will look to carry this momentum into their next game, a home matchup against the University of Utah on Friday, February 20 at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink in Colorado. Fans are eagerly anticipating another strong performance from the Bobcats as they continue their successful season.
