In an exhilarating showdown last night at Haynes Pavilion, the Montana State University Bobcats emerged victorious over the University of Wyoming Pokes with a final score of 4-1. Despite the Pokes dominating the shot count with 55 attempts, it was the Bobcats’ superior goalkeeping and clinical finishing that tipped the scales in their favor.
The Bobcats, with a total of 35 shots, managed to convert four into goals, demonstrating their efficiency in front of the net. Meanwhile, the Pokes struggled to capitalize on their opportunities, with only one of their 55 shots finding the back of the net.
Both teams had their chances on the powerplay, but neither could convert. The Pokes went 0/3, while the Bobcats were 0/4. Despite the lack of powerplay goals, the game was not short of action and excitement.
In the goalie matchup, the Pokes’ Pudgie Sabinash faced 35 shots and made 31 saves. On the other side, Bobcats’ Reese Mcconnell had a stellar game, facing 55 shots and making an impressive 54 saves.
Pokes’ #2 Zoey Brown and Bobcats’ #26 Nicola Roberts each scored a goal for their respective teams.
Looking ahead, the Bobcats will be playing their next game at home against the University of Utah on Friday, February 20 at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink. The team will be hoping to carry forward the momentum from this victory into their upcoming matches.
