Last night at Haynes Pavilion, the Montana State University Bobcats delivered a stunning performance against the University of Wyoming Pokes, emerging victorious with a 4-1 scoreline. Despite the Pokes managing to outshoot the Bobcats 55-35, the Bobcats’ defense and goaltending proved to be the difference.
In a game where both teams struggled to capitalize on their powerplays, with the Pokes going 0/3 and the Bobcats 0/4, it was the Bobcats who managed to find the net more often. Bobcats’ goalie, Reese McConnell, was the star of the show, making an impressive 54 saves from 55 shots. On the other end, Pokes’ goalie Pudgie Sabinash managed 31 saves from 35 shots.
The Pokes’ only goal came from #2 Zoey Brown, while #26 Nicola Roberts found the back of the net for the Bobcats. Despite the high shot count from both teams, the game was decided by the quality of chances created and taken.
This victory provides the Bobcats with a significant morale boost as they prepare for their next game, a home match against the University of Utah on Friday, February 20, at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink. The Bobcats will be looking to continue their winning streak and put on another thrilling performance for their fans.
