In an exhilarating showdown at the Haynes Pavilion, the Montana State University Bobcats emerged victorious over the University of Wyoming Pokes with a final score of 4-1. Despite the Pokes launching an impressive 55 shots, the Bobcats’ solid defense and exceptional goaltending proved too much for them.
The Bobcats, with 35 shots, demonstrated their strategic prowess by making each shot count. While both teams struggled to capitalize on powerplays, with the Pokes going 0/3 and the Bobcats 0/4, it was the overall performance that defined the game.
The star of the evening was undoubtedly the Bobcats’ goaltender, Reese Mcconnell. Facing a barrage of 55 shots, Mcconnell made an outstanding 54 saves, leaving the Pokes’ offense frustrated and contained. On the other side, Pokes’ goalie Pudgie Sabinash managed 31 saves out of 35 shots.
The score sheet was lit by Pokes’ #2 Zoey Brown and Bobcats’ #26 Nicola Roberts, both netting a goal for their respective teams. However, the collective effort of the Bobcats clearly overshadowed individual performances, leading them to a well-deserved victory.
Looking ahead, the Bobcats will host the University of Utah on Friday, February 20, at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink. As the Bobcats continue their winning streak, fans eagerly anticipate another thrilling game.
