In a spirited game at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink, the Montana State University Bobcats faced a challenging opponent in the University of Utah Utes. Despite a valiant effort, the Bobcats fell to the Utes 5-2 in a match that saw both teams fighting hard until the final whistle.

The Utes came out strong, capitalizing on their opportunities and outshooting the Bobcats 38 to 31. Despite the shot disparity, the Bobcats showed tenacity, keeping the pressure on the Utes throughout the game.

Montana State’s goalie, Reese McConnell, had a busy night, making 33 saves on 38 shots. On the other end of the ice, Utes’ goalie Miranda De Antunano turned away 29 of the 31 shots she faced.

The Bobcats’ powerplay had a couple of opportunities but couldn’t find the back of the net, going 0 for 2. The Utes, on the other hand, did not have any powerplay opportunities.

Standout performances included Utes’ #12 Morgan Lavalley, who scored two goals, and Bobcats’ #22 Rylan Lorentz, who netted one goal for his team.

The Bobcats will look to bounce back in their next game when they host Grand Canyon University on Saturday, February 21, at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink. Despite the loss, the team remains optimistic and is ready to put on a great performance for their home crowd.
