On Sunday evening, the Montana State University Bobcats were handed a tough defeat by the University of Utah Utes, with a final score of 5-2. Despite the loss, the Bobcats put up a valiant fight at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink, with a crowd full of die-hard fans cheering them on.
The Utes managed to outshoot the Bobcats 38 to 31. However, the Bobcats’ defensive efforts were commendable, with goalie Reese McConnell making 33 saves on the 38 shots he faced. On the other end of the ice, Utes’ goalie Miranda De Antunano also had a strong game, saving 29 out of the 31 shots she faced.
The Bobcats had two powerplay opportunities but were unable to convert on either, while the Utes did not have any powerplay chances. This was a key factor in the game, as the Bobcats were unable to capitalize on these crucial opportunities.
For the Utes, #12 Morgan Lavalley was the standout player, scoring 2 goals. On the Bobcats’ side, #18 Elly Aldrich managed to find the back of the net for one goal.
Though the Bobcats fell short in this game, they are looking forward to their next match, where they will face Grand Canyon University at home on Saturday, February 21. The team is eager to bounce back and give their fans a thrilling game at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink.
