Last night, the Montana State University Bobcats faced off against the Grand Canyon University Antelopes at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink. The final score was a disappointing 7-1 defeat for the Bobcats.
The Antelopes dominated the game with a total of 64 shots compared to the Bobcats’ 19. The Bobcats struggled to find their rhythm against the Antelopes’ robust defense and relentless offense. The powerplay opportunities also didn’t go in favor of the Bobcats, with them failing to capitalize on either of their two chances. The Antelopes, on the other hand, managed to score on one of their three powerplays.
Despite the heavy loss, Bobcats’ goalie Emma Carlson put on a brave face, making an impressive 57 saves out of 64 shots. The Antelopes’ goalie, Annika Olson, had a relatively quiet night with 18 saves from 19 shots.
The star player of the match was undoubtedly the Antelopes’ #12, Jennae Szucs, who scored a hat-trick. For the Bobcats, #20 Marin Snyder was the lone goal scorer.
The Bobcats will be looking to bounce back from this defeat in their next game. They will need to work on their defense and powerplay conversion to stand a chance against such formidable opponents in the future.
