The Montana State University Bobcats faced a tough loss on their home ice at the CU Boulder Rec Center, falling to the University of Utah Utes with a final score of 5-2. Despite the loss, the Bobcats showed tenacity and grit throughout the game, which took place on February 20, 2026.

The Utes outshot the Bobcats 38-31, but the Bobcats held their own, with goalie Reese McConnell making 33 saves from the 38 shots he faced. On the other side of the rink, Utes goalie Miranda De Antunano successfully defended 29 of the 31 shots from the Bobcats.

While the Bobcats had two powerplay opportunities, they were unable to convert these into points. The Utes, on the other hand, did not have any powerplay opportunities.

The Bobcats’ sole goal was scored by #22 Rylan Lorentz, while the Utes’ #12 Morgan Lavalley managed to find the back of the net twice.

Despite the setback, the Bobcats are looking forward to their next game, a home match against Grand Canyon University on February 21. The team is eager to bounce back and showcase their skills in front of their home crowd at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink.
