The Montana State University Bobcats faced off against the Grand Canyon University Antelopes on Sunday, February 21, at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink. The final score was a disappointing 7-1 in favor of the Antelopes.
The Bobcats struggled to keep up with the Antelopes’ offensive onslaught, with the latter team taking a total of 64 shots compared to the Bobcats’ 19. This disparity in attempts on goal played a significant role in the final scoreline.
The Antelopes’ powerplay was 1/3, while the Bobcats were unable to capitalize on any of their two powerplay opportunities, finishing the game 0/2.
Goalkeeping was another area where the Antelopes had the upper hand, with Annika Olson making 18 saves out of 19 shots. On the other hand, Bobcats’ goalie Emma Carlson faced a barrage of 64 shots, of which she managed to save 57.
The game’s standout player was undoubtedly the Antelopes’ #12 Jennae Szucs, who scored a hat trick. For the Bobcats, #20 Marin Snyder managed to find the back of the net for their only goal of the game.
Despite the result, the Bobcats showed resilience and will be looking to bounce back in their next game. They will undoubtedly be working on their defense and powerplay conversion in the upcoming practices.
