In a thrilling match held at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink on February 20th, the Montana State University Bobcats were defeated by the University of Utah Utes with a final score of 5-2.
The Utes came out strong, delivering a total of 38 shots throughout the game, while the Bobcats managed to fire off 31 shots. Despite the Bobcats’ tenacity, the Utes’ defense proved to be unyielding. The Utes’ goalie, Miranda De Antunano, showcased an impressive performance with 29 saves out of 31 shots. On the other end, Bobcats’ goalie, Reese McConnell, saved 33 out of 38 shots.
The Bobcats’ powerplay had two opportunities but were unable to capitalize on either. The Utes, on the other hand, did not have any powerplay opportunities.
The star player of the match was Utes’ #12 Morgan Lavalley who scored two goals. For the Bobcats, #22 Rylan Lorentz managed to put one on the board.
Despite the loss, the Bobcats showed great potential and determination. They will be looking to bounce back in their next game against Grand Canyon University on February 21st at CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink.
