In an exhilarating match at the Haynes Pavilion, the Montana State University Bobcats emerged victorious over the University of Wyoming Pokes with a final score of 4-1. Despite the Pokes outshooting the Bobcats 55 to 35, the Bobcats’ stellar defense and exceptional goaltending proved to be the difference.
Bobcats’ goalie, Reese McConnell, was the star of the match, saving 54 out of 55 shots. On the other side, Pokes’ goalie, Pudgie Sabinash, couldn’t replicate the same performance, saving only 31 out of 35 shots.
The powerplay game was a stalemate, with the Pokes going 0/3 and the Bobcats going 0/4. The game’s highlight was the scoring from both teams’ #2 players. Zoey Brown of the Pokes managed to score a goal, while Nicola Roberts of the Bobcats also found the back of the net.
With this victory, the Bobcats have set a positive tone for their next game. They will be facing the University of Utah at home on Friday, February 20 at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink. The Bobcats will be looking to carry this momentum forward and secure another win.
