In an exhilarating display of skill and strategy, the Montana State University Bobcats secured a decisive 4-1 win over the University of Wyoming Pokes on February 7, 2026. The game, held at the Haynes Pavilion, saw a remarkable performance from both teams, with the Pokes taking 55 shots and the Bobcats 35.
Despite the Pokes’ aggressive offensive strategy, their powerplay failed to convert any of their three opportunities into goals. The Bobcats also remained scoreless in their four powerplay attempts, demonstrating a tight defense from both sides.
The star of the night was undoubtedly Bobcats’ goalie, Reese McConnell. Facing a barrage of 55 shots, McConnell managed to save an astounding 54, allowing only a single goal by Pokes’ #2, Zoey Brown. On the other end of the ice, Pokes’ goalie Pudgie Sabinash, despite a commendable effort, could only save 31 out of 35 shots, with Bobcats’ #26 Nicola Roberts contributing to the tally.
The Bobcats’ victory over the Pokes sets a positive tone for their upcoming game against the University of Utah. The match is scheduled for February 20, at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink. With the momentum from this win, the Bobcats are expected to put up a strong fight. Stay tuned for more updates on the MSU Bobcats’ exciting season.
