The Montana State University Bobcats put up a valiant fight against the University of Utah Utes, but ultimately fell 5-2 in a match held at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink on February 20, 2026.
The Utes managed to outshoot the Bobcats 38 to 31, but the Bobcats’ goalie, Reese McConnell, put on a commendable performance with 33 saves. On the other side of the ice, Utes’ goalie Miranda De Antunano also had a solid night, stopping 29 out of 31 shots.
Despite the loss, there were some standout performances from the Bobcats. Elly Aldrich, number 18, managed to find the back of the net, contributing one of the two goals for the team.
The Utes’ powerplay did not get a chance to shine as they had no opportunities, while the Bobcats’ powerplay failed to capitalize on two chances. The star of the game was undoubtedly the Utes’ Morgan Lavalley, who scored twice, helping her team secure the victory.
The Bobcats will be looking to bounce back in their next game against Grand Canyon University. The match will take place at home, at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink, on Saturday, February 21. The team will be hoping for a better outcome as they continue to display their grit and determination.
