The Montana State University Bobcats showed their hockey prowess last night at Haynes Pavilion by defeating the University of Wyoming Pokes with a resounding 4-1 final score. Despite the Pokes having 55 shots on goal, compared to the Bobcats’ 35, the Bobcats’ defense and goaltending proved to be the difference.
The Bobcats’ goalie, Reese McConnell, had an outstanding performance, saving 54 out of 55 shots. On the other side, Pokes’ goalie Pudgie Sabinash was under pressure, managing to save 31 out of 35 shots.
In an unfortunate night for the Pokes, their powerplay was 0/3, while the Bobcats also struggled with their powerplay going 0/4. Nevertheless, the Bobcats managed to find the net more often, leading to their victory.
Bobcats’ #26 Nicola Roberts and Pokes’ #2 Zoey Brown both scored one goal each, contributing to the final scoreline. Roberts’ goal was a highlight of the game, showcasing the Bobcats’ offensive skills.
The Bobcats are now preparing for their next game, which will be a home match against the University of Utah on Friday, February 20th at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink. The team will be looking to continue their winning streak and keep the momentum going. Stay tuned for more updates on the MSU Bobcats’ hockey season.
