The Montana State University Bobcats brought their A-game to the rink last night, securing a decisive 4-1 victory over the University of Wyoming Pokes. This thrilling face-off took place at the Haynes Pavilion, leaving the home crowd ecstatic with the outcome.
Despite the Pokes having a higher shot count at 55, compared to the Bobcats’ 35, the Bobcats proved that quality trumps quantity. The Bobcats’ goalie, Reese McConnell, put on a stellar performance, saving 54 out of the 55 shots taken by the Pokes. His counterpart, Pudgie Sabinash of the Pokes, managed to save 31 out of 35 shots.
Both teams struggled with powerplays, with the Pokes going 0/3 and the Bobcats 0/4. Yet, the Bobcats managed to keep their focus and made the most of their opportunities. Nicola Roberts, #26, was among the goal scorers for the Bobcats, adding to the tally that sealed the victory.
The Pokes’ only goal came from #2, Zoey Brown, which was not enough to turn the tide in their favor.
The Bobcats are now preparing for their next game at home against the University of Utah. The match is scheduled for Friday, Feb 20, at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink in Colorado. The Bobcats will be looking to carry forward this momentum and secure another win. Stay tuned for more action-packed hockey from the Bobcats’ camp.
