Bobcats Fall to Antelopes in a 4-1 Defeat

by MSU Bobcats Hockey | Oct 18, 2026

The Montana State University Bobcats faced a tough loss on the road against the Grand Canyon University Antelopes on Sunday night, with a final score of 4-1 at AZ Ice Arcadia.

The Antelopes dominated the game in terms of shots, taking a staggering 72 shots compared to the Bobcats’ 17. Despite the overwhelming offensive pressure from the Antelopes, Bobcats’ goalie Reese McConnell put on a commendable performance, saving 68 shots out of the 72.

However, the Antelopes’ offensive onslaught proved too much for the Bobcats. Antelopes’ Abigail Brigg led the charge with two goals, helping secure the victory for her team. The lone goal for the Bobcats came from Nicola Roberts, but it wasn’t enough to turn the tide in their favor.

Both teams struggled to capitalize on their powerplays, with both the Bobcats and the Antelopes going 0/7. The Bobcats will need to work on their powerplay execution in future games to take advantage of these opportunities.

Sydney Fornwald, the Antelopes’ goalie, also had a solid game, allowing only one goal from the Bobcats’ 17 shots.

The Bobcats will look to bounce back from this defeat in their next game, as they travel to face Arizona State University on Sunday, October 18 at the Mountain America Community Iceplex in Arizona. Despite the tough loss, the Bobcats remain determined and focused on improving their game.
