The Montana State University Bobcats demonstrated their prowess on the ice last night with a convincing 4-1 victory over the University of Wyoming Pokes. Despite being outshot by the Pokes, the Bobcats managed to capitalize on their chances, leading to a decisive win at Haynes Pavilion.
The Bobcats faced a barrage of 55 shots from the Pokes but managed to fend off the majority, thanks to the outstanding performance of their goalie, Reese McConnell. McConnell made a staggering 54 saves, only allowing one goal from the Pokes’ #2, Zoey Brown.
On the other end of the ice, the Bobcats managed to make their 35 shots count. Despite the Pokes’ goalie, Pudgie Sabinash, making 31 saves, the Bobcats found the back of the net four times, with #26 Nicola Roberts contributing one of the goals.
Neither team managed to capitalize on their powerplay opportunities, with the Pokes going 0/3 and the Bobcats 0/4. However, the Bobcats’ superior defensive play and efficient shooting proved to be the difference in the game.
This win will surely boost the Bobcats’ confidence as they prepare for their next game. They are set to face the University of Utah at home on Friday, February 20, at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink. The Bobcats will be looking to continue their winning ways and put on another impressive performance for their fans.
