In a hard-fought hockey match at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink, the Montana State University Bobcats fell to the University of Utah Utes, 5-2. Despite the loss, the Bobcats showcased their grit and determination throughout the game.
The Utes outshot the Bobcats by a small margin, with 38 shots on goal compared to the Bobcats’ 31. The Utes, however, were able to capitalize on more of their opportunities. Bobcats’ goaltender Reese McConnell faced a barrage of shots, making 33 saves, while Utes’ goalie Miranda De Antunano stopped 29 out of 31 shots.
The Bobcats had two powerplay opportunities but were unable to convert on either, while the Utes did not have any powerplay chances.
The Utes’ #12 Morgan Lavalley was the standout player of the game, netting two goals. For the Bobcats, #18 Elly Aldrich scored one goal, showing promise for the team’s offensive capabilities.
The Bobcats look to bounce back in their next game against Grand Canyon University on Saturday, February 21st at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink. The team remains positive and focused on improving their gameplay for the upcoming match.
