In a riveting game of hockey, the Montana State University Bobcats claimed a decisive 4-1 victory over the University of Wyoming Pokes on February 7th at the Haynes Pavilion. Despite being outshot by the Pokes, the Bobcats showcased their resilience and strategic play.
The Pokes came out strong, firing 55 shots at the Bobcats’ goal, but were only able to get one past goalie Reese McConnell. McConnell had an outstanding night, saving a remarkable 54 out of 55 shots. On the other side, Pokes’ goalie Pudgie Sabinash faced 35 shots, saving 31 of them.
The Pokes’ lone goal came from #2 Zoey Brown, while the Bobcats’ #26 Nicola Roberts also found the back of the net. Despite multiple powerplay opportunities for both teams, neither side was able to capitalize. The Pokes went 0 for 3 on the powerplay, while the Bobcats also struggled, going 0 for 4.
This victory is a testament to the Bobcats’ tenacity and their ability to perform under pressure. They were able to maintain their defensive solidity while capitalizing on the opportunities they had, resulting in a well-deserved win.
Looking ahead, the Bobcats will next face off against the University of Utah at home on February 20th at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink. We look forward to another exciting game and hope to see the Bobcats continue their winning streak.
