The Montana State University Bobcats delivered a stunning performance last night, defeating the University of Wyoming Pokes 4-1 at Haynes Pavilion. Despite being outshot 55 to 35, the Bobcats demonstrated exceptional defensive skills and capitalized on their opportunities to secure the win.
The Pokes, despite their higher shot count, were unable to convert their chances into goals. Their powerplay was held at bay by the Bobcats’ solid defense, going 0 for 3. The Bobcats didn’t fare much better on their powerplay opportunities, going 0 for 4, but it didn’t hinder their overall performance.
The standout player of the match was undoubtedly Bobcats’ goalie, Reese McConnell. Facing a barrage of 55 shots, McConnell made an impressive 54 saves, allowing only a single goal by Pokes’ #2, Zoey Brown. On the other end of the ice, Pokes’ goalie Pudgie Sabinash managed 31 saves out of 35 shots, unable to keep out a goal from Bobcats’ #26, Nicola Roberts.
With this victory, the Bobcats have built up significant momentum as they prepare for their next game. They will be facing off against the University of Utah at home on Friday, February 20th, at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink. The Bobcats will look to carry this winning energy into their upcoming match and continue their successful season.
