The Montana State University Bobcats suffered a disappointing defeat at the hands of the University of Utah Utes yesterday evening at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink. The final score was 5-2 in favor of the Utes, despite a valiant effort from the Bobcats.
The Utes outshot the Bobcats by a narrow margin, with 38 shots to the Bobcats’ 31. Neither team was particularly successful on the powerplay, with the Utes failing to capitalize on any opportunities and the Bobcats only converting on 0 out of 2 chances.
In the net, the Utes’ Miranda De Antunano made 29 saves while Bobcats’ Reese McConnell made 33 saves. Despite the loss, McConnell’s performance was commendable, facing a barrage of 38 shots.
On the offensive end, the Utes’ #12 Morgan Lavalley led the charge with 2 goals. For the Bobcats, #18 Elly Aldrich found the back of the net for one goal, providing a glimmer of hope for the Montana team.
