The Montana State University Bobcats faced a tough loss against the University of Utah Utes on February 20th, 2026. Despite a strong effort, the Bobcats were unable to overcome the Utes’ solid play, falling 5-2 at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink.

The Utes outshot the Bobcats 38 to 31, maintaining a strong offensive presence throughout the game. The Bobcats’ powerplay unit was given two opportunities but was unable to capitalize, while the Utes didn’t have any powerplay chances.

Goalie Reese Mcconnell put up a valiant effort for the Bobcats, saving 33 of the 38 shots he faced. On the other side, the Utes’ goalie, Miranda De Antunano, saved 29 of the 31 shots from the Bobcats.

The Utes’ #12, Morgan Lavalley, proved to be a significant force on the ice, scoring two of the five Utes’ goals. The Bobcats’ #22, Rylan Lorentz, managed to put one in the net for the home team.

The Bobcats will have a chance to bounce back in their next game against Grand Canyon University on February 21st at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink. The team will be looking to improve their powerplay performance and tighten up their defense to secure a win.
