The Montana State University Bobcats faced a tough defeat against the University of Utah Utes on Sunday evening. The final score was 5-2 in favor of the Utes, leaving the Bobcats with a bitter taste in their mouths.
The game took place at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink and was a challenging match from the start. The Utes fired off 38 shots, seven more than the Bobcats’ 31. Despite a solid performance by Bobcats’ goalie, Reese McConnell, who made 33 saves, the Utes managed to find the back of the net five times.
The Bobcats had a couple of opportunities to turn the game around with two powerplays, but unfortunately, they couldn’t capitalize on either. The Utes’ defense stood strong, not giving the Bobcats any room to breathe.
The Utes’ victory was largely powered by #12 Morgan Lavalley, who scored two goals. On the Bobcats’ side, #18 Elly Aldrich managed to score one goal, but it wasn’t enough to tip the balance in their favor.
Despite the loss, the Bobcats are looking forward to their next game at home against Grand Canyon University on Saturday, Feb 21. They are determined to bounce back and give their fans a game to remember at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink.
