In a game that was filled with intensity and passion, the Montana State University Bobcats couldn’t overcome the University of Utah Utes, falling 5-2 on Sunday evening. The game was held at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink in Colorado.
The Utes managed to outshoot the Bobcats 38-31, maintaining a steady offensive pressure throughout the game. Despite their best efforts, the Bobcats couldn’t capitalize on their two powerplay opportunities, while the Utes didn’t have any.
In the goalie matchup, Miranda De Antunano of the Utes faced 31 shots and made 29 saves. On the other side, Bobcats’ Reese McConnell was kept busy with 38 shots, making 33 saves.
The Utes’ #12, Morgan Lavalley, was the standout player of the game, netting two goals. For the Bobcats, #22 Rylan Lorentz managed to put one in the back of the net.
The Bobcats will look to bounce back from this defeat in their next game at home against Grand Canyon University on Saturday, February 21st, at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink. They will need to bring their A-game to turn their fortunes around.
