The Montana State University Bobcats were narrowly defeated by the Grand Canyon University Antelopes in a low scoring game on Sunday, January 30, 2026. In a game that was held at AZ Ice Arcadia, the Antelopes managed to edge out the Bobcats with a final score of 1-0.
The Bobcats put up a valiant fight, taking 28 shots at the Antelopes’ goal, but they were unable to find the back of the net. On the other side, the Antelopes peppered the Bobcats’ goal with 52 shots, one of which managed to sneak past Bobcats’ goalie, Reese Mcconnell.
Despite the defeat, Mcconnell put up an impressive performance, making 51 saves out of 52 shots. His counterpart, the Antelopes’ Annika Olson, managed to keep a clean sheet, saving all 28 shots that came her way.
The game was not without its fair share of penalties, with Bobcats’ #20 Marin Snyder earning 2 penalty minutes. The only goal of the game came from Antelopes’ #5 Taylor Zahalka.
Both teams failed to capitalize on their powerplay opportunities, going 0 for 4.
The Bobcats will be looking to bounce back in their next game, which is an away fixture against the University of Arizona. The game is set to take place on Saturday, January 31 at 6:15 pm MST at AZ Ice Peoria.
