In a high-stakes game that extended into overtime, the Montana State University Bobcats suffered a narrow defeat against the University of Arizona Wildcats last night at AZ Ice Peoria. The final score stood at 5-4 in favor of the Wildcats.
The Bobcats brought their A-game, firing 39 shots at the Wildcats’ goal, but were outshot by the Wildcats who managed a whopping 68 shots. Despite the barrage, Bobcats’ goalie Emma Carlson put up a commendable performance, saving 63 of those shots. On the other side, Wildcats’ goalie Olivia Sorlie faced 39 shots and saved 35.
The Bobcats had three powerplay opportunities but failed to convert any into goals. The Wildcats, on the other hand, capitalized on one of their five powerplay chances.
Bobcats’ #26 Nicola Roberts was a standout player, scoring two goals in the game. However, it was Wildcats’ #22 Lilly Howell who stole the show with a hat trick, scoring three goals and playing a decisive role in the Wildcats’ victory.
The Bobcats will be looking to bounce back from this tough loss in their next game. They will face Grand Canyon University on Sunday, Feb 1, at AZ Ice Arcadia. Stay tuned for more updates and let’s cheer our Bobcats on to victory in their next game!
