The Montana State University Bobcats showed their prowess on the ice last night, trouncing the University of Wyoming Pokes with a resounding 9-3 victory at Haynes Pavilion.
The Bobcats dominated the game from the start, firing off an impressive 58 shots compared to the Pokes’ 32. The Pokes’ goalie, Alayna Smith, managed to save 49 shots, but it wasn’t enough to stem the tide of goals from the relentless Bobcats. On the other side of the rink, Bobcats’ goalie Emma Carlson had a solid performance, saving 29 out of 32 shots.
Despite the Pokes’ powerplay opportunities (0/5), they failed to capitalize, while the Bobcats also missed their chances on powerplay (0/3). The game was not without its standout performances, however. Pokes’ Lena Roubinek (#40) managed to sneak in 2 goals, while Bobcats’ Aziana Schacht (#19) was instrumental in setting up her teammates with a whopping 4 assists.
The Bobcats’ victory gives them momentum as they prepare to host the Pokes once again at Haynes Pavilion on Saturday, February 7th. With this win under their belt, the Bobcats are looking strong and ready for their next showdown.
