The Montana State University Bobcats faced a challenging night on the ice as they were defeated by the University of Utah Utes, with a final score of 5-2. The game took place at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink in Colorado on February 20, 2026.

The Utes dominated the game from the start, sending 38 shots towards the Bobcats’ goal. On the other hand, the Bobcats managed to make 31 shots throughout the match, but only two found their way into the net.

In the powerplay department, the Bobcats had two opportunities but failed to capitalize on either. The Utes, however, didn’t have any powerplay chances throughout the game.

The Utes’ goaltender, Miranda De Antunano, had a solid game, saving 29 out of 31 shots. For the Bobcats, Reese Mcconnell stood between the pipes, making 33 saves on 38 shots.

The star of the game was undoubtedly the Utes’ #12, Morgan Lavalley, who scored two goals. For the Bobcats, #22 Rylan Lorentz managed to put one goal on the board.

Despite the loss, the Bobcats have a chance to bounce back in their next game. They will be playing at home against Grand Canyon University on Saturday, February 21, again at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink. It’s time for the Bobcats to regroup and come back stronger.
