The Montana State University Bobcats hockey team demonstrated their prowess on the ice last night, February 7th, at the Haynes Pavilion. The Bobcats triumphed over the University of Wyoming Pokes with a final score of 4-1.
Despite the Pokes taking 55 shots, compared to the Bobcats’ 35, the Bobcats’ superior defense and goalkeeping skills were undeniable. Reese McConnell, the Bobcats’ goalie, made an impressive 54 saves from the Pokes’ 55 shots. On the other side, the Pokes’ goalie, Pudgie Sabinash, managed to save 31 out of 35 shots.
Both teams had their chances on the powerplay, but neither was able to capitalize. The Pokes went 0 for 3 and the Bobcats 0 for 4.
The game saw goals from Pokes’ #2 Zoey Brown and Bobcats’ #26 Nicola Roberts, contributing to the exciting atmosphere of the match.
Looking ahead, the Bobcats are set to face the University of Utah at home on Friday, February 20th, at the CU Boulder Rec Center Ice Rink. This victory over the Pokes is sure to boost the Bobcats’ confidence going into their next game.
